ABSTRACTS

ABSTRACTS SUBMISSION

You are invited to submit abstracts of your scientific work on all aspects of Stallion Reproduction to be presented as oral communication or poster at the ISSR conference 2025.

All submitted abstracts will undergo a strict peer-review process. Proceedings of the 8th ISSR meeting will be published as a special supplement of the Journal of Equine Veterinary Science.

Abstracts for posters or oral communications can only be submitted through the ISSR web site (www.issr2025cordoba.org)

ABSTRACT REQUIREMENTS

Abstracts must be written in English. If you are not a native speaker, English ask for help to edit grammar and style. Your name must only appear once as first author of an abstract, you may, however, submit additional abstracts as co-author. Abstracts can be presented by the first author or by any of the co-authors. However, please note that at least one Congress registration for each accepted abstracts is required; abstracts not respecting these requirements will be not published.

• Figures, tables and footnotes: These are discouraged but if included, must be included in the word count.

• Word limit: The total number of words in the complete abstract submission must be <500. The word count includes every word in the Title, Abstract, Acknowledgements, References, Figures, Tables etc. Please consider that for an Abstract, Affiliations can be kept much shorter than for a full paper. Please also note that the on-line abstract submission system counts the number of words differently to the Word program.

• References: These are included in the total word count of the complete Abstract. References should be written in line with the text (not as a separate section) and the format should be minimal.

In general, the online submission of abstracts requires the following information:

Author Information: author names (provide your full given name and family name; full names are needed for tracking purposes) and addresses (institution name, city, state/province, and country; do not provide departments or street addresses).

Title: only the first word and proper nouns should be capitalized; all other words should be entered in lower case (e.g., Digestibility of fat by Thoroughbred horses). Do not bold or italicize the entire title.

Abstract Body: text should be entered as a single paragraph. Do not include subheadings within the text, such as Introduction, Results, Discussion, etc. Do not include in-text reference citations or a list of references.

Inclusion of a data table within the abstract body is optional.

Key Words: enter 3 key words. Capitalize each word.


PREFERRED METHOD OF PRESENTATION 

When you submit your abstract, please indicate your preferred method of presentation:

a. Poster session only
b. Poster session or oral communication
c. Participation in the student competition (see below for additional information)


REVIEW OF ABSTRACTS 

The abstracts are subjected to a rigorous peer-review process. Authors will be sent an e-mail indicating the status (accepted or not accepted, or accepted with minor revision) of their abstract. Authors or abstracts assigned “accept with minor revision” status will have two business days following the initial notification to make minor corrections (i.e., minor errors or clarifications identified by section committee reviewers). Corrected abstracts will be reviewed by section committee chairs and assigned a final status (accepted or not accepted). Failure to address the corrections requested by the reviewers in a timely manner may result in non-acceptance of the abstract. Abstracts that fail to meet quality standards or requirements, or those requiring major revision will not be accepted. Accepted abstracts will appear in the proceedings as accepted without further opportunity to revise. As soon as the program is finalized with dates, times, and locations of presentations, authors will be notified by e-mail.

By submitting the abstract, the author concedes (1) that the work has not been published previously and is the work of the named authors who all agree to be listed as co-authors and (2) that the experiments have been conducted under the appropriate legal authority.

Make sure that the author or one of the co-authors is present at the conference and will present the publication either as oral communication or poster. Failure to present the work after the abstract has been published in the conference proceedings will result in rejection of abstracts from this particular laboratory in the following years.


ABSTRACT SELECTION 

The decision whether an abstract is accepted as poster or oral communication is made by the program secretary and depends on the general layout of the scientific contents of the conference. The decision is final and will be announced during September, 2024.
